Description

Mud Bay's Information Systems and Database Administrator ensures that all users have the technical support to access data through coporate reporting tools.  Additionally, they support the Director of IT in maintaining and supporting a growing I/S infrastructure, creates new database applications and performs administration on existing databases.

Primary Accountabilities

  • All users have access to view the data they are authorized to effectively do their jobs, via reports or direct access.
  • Retail.net and software-related processes are functioning correctly and efficiently and new processes are created as necessary. 
  • Administration of existing databases.
  • Maintenance of SQL 2008 servers.
  • Developing triggers and complex stored procedures.

Additional Accountabilities
  • On-call availability for technical support and software troubleshooting.
  • Assist in project implementation, research and design.
  • Software development/back-end.
  • Support colleagues within the Mud Bay IT Group by providing back-up as needed.
  • Ensure security of databases.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues.
Primary Duties

  • Work with end users to identify data needs and create the appropriate solution.
  • Work with end users to identify and resolve issues with existing processes.
  • Work with end users to develop, implement, test and evaluate new software processes and tools to match new or changing business needs.
  • Configuration and maintenance of databases, including ensuring the integrity of reporting data.
  • Test and validate reporting tools and procedures.
  • Assist in the deployment of all new applications.
Additional Duties
  • Install and upgrade software, as well as apply regularly-released updates.
  • Develop documentation of existing/new practices.
  • Develop and test scripting to perform various IT processes and functions.

Primary Qualifications

  • Ability to write complex queries to extract large data sets from an SQL database.
  • Knowledge of database theory and design.
  • Experience in database design and development in an Oracle environment.
  • Experience with SQL 2008 preferred.
  • Minimum of two years working in an SQL environment.
  • Ability to test large data sets for consistency, completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate and support computer systems, common retail hardware and a variety of software packages.
  • Ability to effectively train end users.
  • Experience in deployment of customized computer systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a positive, constructive manner.
  • An understanding that, at Mud Bay, technology exists to accomplish business goals, and the primary focus of IT staff is the development of systems and processes that accomplish those goals.
  • Detail and accuracy orientation. 
  • Experience with retail environments preferred
  • Ability to work effectively -- by telephone, in writing and in person -- with a variety of people including store staff, store managers, administrative staff and vendors.
  • Ability to understand and bring to bear the larger context surrounding any given task.
  • Ability to learn and operate new software and hardware packages.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technological concepts to technically untrained people.
  • Flexibility to adapt and excel in a rapidly growing company.
  • B.A., B.S. or equivalent experience.
  • Valid WA driver's license, clean driving record, and current Washington state liability insurance.
