Purpose/Function/Scope

Mud Bay's Regional Retail Coordinators contribute to, and ultimately ensure, the success of Mud Bay's retail managers by selecting the right people and by giving each the appropriate education, tools and support.  Coordinators work with knowledge, integrity and honesty to promote the mission, core values an brand promise of Mud Bay.

Primary Accountabilities
  • The Coordinator's Region has the right retail managers and managers-in-training in place
  • Retail managers in the Region have the education, tools and support needed to realize their stores' annual plans, achieve same-store-growth and lead happy, efficient, Mud Bay-style workplaces
  • Store staff in the Region and Mud Bay's administrative staff communicate effectively and collaborate happily with each other
  • Retail managers in the Region understand, contribute to, and focus their efforts on executing Mud Bay's retail strategy
  • The tools and information used by retail manager and store staff in operating their stores are complete, current and as perfect as we can make them (Accountability shared with other regional coordinators)
Additional Accountabilities
  • The annual plans of the stores in the Region are challenging, achievable and in line with Mud Bay's annual goals and its long-term business strategy
  • Managers and managers-in-training in the Region are effectively engaged in a challenging and comprehensive on-going educational program
Primary Duties
  • Hire, fire, develop, empower and evaluate retail managers and managers-in-training for the Region
  • Maintain an close, functional working relationship with retail managers and managers-in-training in the Region; this relationship includes, but is not limited to four-week review meetings and regular phone conversations
  • Create, update, expand and improve the tools and information used by retail managers and store staff in operating their stores
  • Maintain a direct knowledge of the people, operations performance and gist of each store in the Region through extended regular visits, numerical analysis and other means
  • Collaborate across Mud Bay in creating, updating, expanding  and improving the educational programs for retail managers, managers-in-training and store staff
  • Assist retail managers in the development and execution of annual plans
  • Identify stores, retail managers and staff that are troubled, under-performing or at risk and take appropriate action up to and including termination of managers and staff, caretaking leaderless stores and turning around troubled locations
  • Assist in the selection of group goals and operational plans that support and further Mud Bay's strategic plan
Additional Duties
  • Plan and conduct managers' meetings
  • Facilitate communication among stores and between stores and Mud Bay admin staff
  • Assist in developing, teaching and evaluating staff bonus programs
  • Help to develop and administer other "staff happiness" programs
  • Assist in the coordination and scheduling of staff events

  • The ability to collaborate and interact with Mud Bay store and admin staff in a happy and respectful way
  • Maturity, discretion, judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality when appropriate
  • Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
