Description
The Systems Administrator is responsible for implementing, maintaining and collaborating in the engineering of Mud Bay's computer systems including workstations, networks, servers and software. The Systems Administrator assists the Director of IT with planning the overall direction of Mud Bay's IT evolution, incorporating solutions for users without compromising systems security and integrity.
Primary Accountabilities
- Security and high-availability of mission-critical Mud Bay systems.
- Support Mud Bay's IT infrastructure in a manner that provides an effective balance between user usability and IT systems integrity.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of Mud Bay's IT infrastructure, including physical and logical network, computer systems and software systems.
Additional Accountabilities
- Implementation of new IT technologies.
- Running documentation of network and hardware systems topology and configurations.
- Harware maintenance and recommendations of new equipment.
- Continual imporvement of the functionality and performance of Mud Bay's IT systems.
Primary Duties
- Recommend and implement technical solutions for Solving Mud Bay system needs.
- Monitor and adjust Mud Bay's IT systems so that they are consistently running efficiently.
- Participation in on-call availability for Mud Bay's IT help desk.
- Support Mud Bay's store expansion by installing standardized IT systems in new stores.
Additional Duties
- Research and support store and warhouse IT equipment such as handheld computers, credit card terminals and other peripheral devices.
- Install, configure and relocate hardware and software when necessary.
- Install and upgrade software as needed.
- Manage daily, weekly, and quarterly data backups.
- Anti-virus software on all computer systems.
- Windows and Linux server maintenance and administration.
Primary Qualifications
- Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000-2003 experience
- Linux server administration
- Experience with enterprise environments
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques
- Understanding of IT industry standard best practices
- Experience performing multiple roles in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
- Ability to learn new tools and skills quickly
- Ability to understand and bring to bear the larger context surrounding any given task.
- Detail and accuracy orientation
- Experience with retail environments
- Ability to effectively educate technically untrained people in how to use technical systems
- Ability to meet deadlines and track interlocking time lines
- Flexibility to adapt and excel in a rapidly growing company
- Valid WA driver's license, clean driving record and current Washington state driver's liability insurance.
