Journey to Urinary Health...

Gizmo had been having chronic urinary issues with struvite crystals and Urinary Tract Infections since she was 8 months old. She is an indoor kitty so you can imagine the mess she would make when sick. After over five months of expensive vet treatments and special vet diets Gizmo still wasnt better. After another trip to another vet which resulted in unsatisfactory results I heard about working with a cat's diet to hollistically acidfy her urine and using certain vitamins to soothe the symptoms she'd been having. I went to Mudd Bay and the staff gladly helped me find a holistic alternative to the vet diets.

Gizmo was first switched to Wysong's Uretic diet with Beef Stew canned food added in. This did wonders for her. The diet helped treat her current conditions. She had previously been on a horrendously expensive vet prescribed diet that had little to no effect on her situation. Once her current infection was cleaned up I focused on her wet food and supplimented it with Wysong's Biotic PH- formula. I also used a glucose formula for a month to help give her the extra nutrients needed to repair her system.

The staff was extremely excited and supportive when I mentioned switching her to raw food and helped me select the products. I was hesitant to do this at first concerned about taking away her dry food and wondering if it would actually keep her urine acidic enough. The staff were very knowledable and gave me plenty of information and samples to let me make up my mind on my own. After several months of her being on Wysong's dry food with no bad results I switched her to a raw food diet. She still has to have a little of Wysong's Beef Stew canned food because she likes it, but otherwise I have never seen her healthier. She lost some extra weight and her coat is glossy. She hasnt needed anti-biotics to combat a Urinary Tract Infection in over a year. Now she eats a combination of the raw diet, a small spoon of canned food and a little Biotic PH- or Alaskan Salmon Oil.

The newest addition to my family doesnt mind eating raw food either, Both of them have the softest fur and dont shed hardly at all. They love it. I would recomened to anyone having issues like mine to look into raw food. It is completely worth it.

As for the messes she's made, the staff has refered me to several enzyme treatments that have worked very well as well as giving me tips with retraining her to use her box and litter. Gizmo used to be only on clay litter. Now she is on Swheat Scoop and likes it just fine. It's low dust, is actually really good at containing odor and wont irritate any symptoms if she should ever get sick again.

I dont think that will happen however.
